Agglomerate Size Evolution in Solid Propellant Combustion under High Pressure

چکیده
Solid propellant combustion and flow are significantly affected by condensed products (CCPs) in solid rocket motors. A new aluminum agglomeration model is established using the discrete element method, considering burning rate formulation of propellant. Combining alumina deposition model, an analytical evolution CCPs proposed, capable predicting particle-size distribution completely burned CCPs. The near away from surface collected a special quench vessel under 6~10 MPa, to verify applicability CCP model. Experimental results show that predicted error proposed less than 8.5%. Results expected help develop better tools for propellants

Role of Heterogeneous Reactions in Solid Propellant Combustion
steep temperature gradient is established in the solid This gradient extends to a depth of several microns, depending upon the external heat-flux rate As the propellant surface layers approach 150°C, the intermosaic blocks of the oxidizer particles decompose, and gaseous products diffuse to the oxidizer particle-fuel interface From ammonium perchlorate decomposition studies, the over-all reacti...
متن کاملUnsteady Flow Evolution and Combustion Dynamics of Homogeneous Solid Propellant in a Rocket Motor
A time-resolved numerical analysis of combustion dynamics of double-base homogenous solid propellant in a rocket motor is performed by means of a Large-Eddy Simulation (LES) technique. The physiochemical processes occurring in the flame zone and their influence on the unsteady flow evolution in the chamber are investigated in depth. A five-step reduced reaction mechanism is used to obtain the t...
متن کاملMeasurement of Combustion Temperature of Solid Propellant by FTIR Spectrometer
The temperature of solid state propellant combustion flame is studied by a Bruker OPAG33 Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer (FTIR). The infrared emission spectra of Nitrate Ester Plasticized Polyether Propellant (NEPE) solid propellant are measured with a resolution of 4 cm−1 at a testing distance of 20 m in real time. The temperature of NEPE propellant plume is calculated by using the fin...
متن کاملApplications of Various Methods of Analysis to Combustion Instabilities in Solid Propellant Rockets
Instabilities of motions in a combustion chamber are consequences of the coupled dynamics of combustion processes and of the flow in the chamber. The extreme complexities of the problem always require approximations of various sorts to make progress in understanding the mechanisms and behavior of combustion instabilities. This paper covers recent progress in the subject, mainly summarizing effo...
متن کاملHigh Altitude Plume Simulations for a Solid Propellant Rocket
A simulation scheme is proposed for flowfield and radiation analysis of solid rocket exhaust plumes at high altitude. Several recently developed numerical procedures are used to determine properties of the gas and condensed phase Al2O3 particles, and spectrally resolved plume radiation calculations are performed using a Monte Carlo ray trace model. Simulations are run for a representative plume...
